Coca-Cola Recalls Drinks In Europe Over High Levels of Chlorate | Firstpost Spotlight

Coca-Cola has recalled its drinks in parts of Europe after it detected “higher levels” of chlorate in them. The company said the cans and bottles with chemicals had been distributed in Belgium, Britain, France, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands since November.
In Britain, the company said, five lines of affected products including Coke, Fanta, Minute Maid, Sprite and Tropico brands were shipped at the end of last year and had already been sold. While in France, affected batches of Coke and Fuze Tea were delivered. However, the company’s recent recall order doesn’t apply to the French market. The higher levels of chlorate chemicals in the drinks were discovered during routine testing. Exposure to high levels of chlorate can cause health issues like thyroid, especially among children and babies.
