Wendy’s Loyalties Are Tested After Tragic Death
WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS ahead for Alien: Earth episode 7.The ending of Alien: Earth episode 7, “Emergence,” finds the bond between Wendy and Joe being tested after Nibs’ death. The episode also features several character deaths, following the destruction of Tootle or Isaac in Alien: Earth episode 6. Arthur briefly comes back to life before a baby Xenomorph is born from his chest in classic Alien franchise style.
After learning how to communicate with the captured Xenomorph in Alien: Earth episode 4, Wendy is able to instruct the alien to do her bidding, which involves wreaking total carnage on her foes. Slightly enlists the help of Smee to bring Arthur’s hollow body to Morrow, who is accompanied by Weyland-Yutani soldiers. Ultimately, Morrow is bested by Kirsh, who captured the rogue Xenomorph that exploded from Arthur’s chest.
Meanwhile, Boy Kavalier is fascinated by the “eyeball” alien, who may just be the most highly intelligent of them all. The alien actually communicates with Boy Kavalier by reciting several digits of pi, since it is a universal number that all advanced lifeforms would recognize and understand. Boy Kavalier gets the sinister idea of removing the alien from the sheep and placing it in a human, saying he knows just the person for the task.
Wendy’s Bond With Joe Is Threatened After Nibs’ Death
The final moments of Alien: Earth season 1’s penultimate episode see a rage-fueled Wendy screaming at Joe for killing Nibs. Earlier in the episode, Wendy made it clear to Joe that she was not going to leave Neverland without the other hybrids, whom she considers to be her brothers and sisters. This goes to show that, while Marcy’s consciousness was replicated in Wendy’s body, Wendy is very much her own being.
Wendy likely won’t betray Joe in the Alien: Earth season 1 finale, but the biggest unanswered question will be determining where her truest loyalties lie. Wendy’s strongest alliance is undoubtedly with the Xenomorph, who obeys her like a mother. Because of this, Wendy wields all the power on the island, which will have nearly certain consequences for Boy Kavalier, who doesn’t take answers from anyone.
Why Kirsh Let Slightly & Smee Take Arthur To The Beach
Kirsh had been observing Slightly from afar while Boy Kavalier made a settlement with Yutani in the previous episode. Kirsh witnessed Slightly locking Arthur in the secure lab to be targeted by a facehugger. He was also well aware that Slightly had been communicating with Morrow through a bug placed on his neck.
Kirsh is fighting his own battle that is separate from protecting Boy Kavalier’s best interests. As a synth, Kirsh has his own ploys and strategies, as well as resentment towards humankind. He helped Slightly and Smee smuggle Arthur and the facehugger to the beach so that he could walk Morrow and his Weyland-Yutani soldiers right into a trap.
It remains to be seen what Kirsh’s full intentions are, since his allegiance to Prodigy is shaky at best. He does seem concerned about the hybrids and perhaps has his own plans for them outside of Boy Kavalier’s control. With Morrow captured, Kirsh will look like a hero to Boy Kavalier, which could create the perfect opportunity for him to strike against his master.
Alien: Earth Episode 7’s Graveyard Scene Explained
Wendy has lost faith in Dame Sylvia and Prodigy after finding out how they erased some of Nibs’ memories to make her more well-adjusted behaviorally. Although Dame was only following orders from Atom Enis, Boy Kavalier’s right-hand man, Wendy took on the responsibility of keeping Nibs and the other hyrbids safe.
Wendy, Nibs, and Joe come across a small graveyard in the forest outside the main facilities on Neverland Island. Each grave is for the human children who were transferred into the hybrid bodies. This is why Nibs recognizes her tombstone and Joe mourns over Marcy’s grave, since it’s becoming more apparent to him that he has truly lost his sister, even as Wendy stands right behind him.
Wendy insists that their old human identities still exist within their new hybrid bodies, but Nibs no longer believes that she is still completely herself after seeing her own grave. This scene acts as a pivotal moment in the story that differentiates Wendy from Marcy. The two may be increidbly similar, but they are not the same.
What To Expect In Alien: Earth Season 1’s Finale
The Alien: Earth season 1 finale will likely include Boy Kavalier’s experiment with putting the “eye alien” into a human or synthetic being. Boy Kavalier told Dame Sylvia early on in the series that all he wants more than anything is to have a conversation with someone who is smarter than he is. This is almost guaranteed to happen in the final season 1 episode, and it may cost Boy Kavalier his life.
Morrow will be imprisoned on Neverland along with his Weyland-Yutani soldiers, leaving Kirsh or Boy Kavalier to determine their fates. Expect some type of twist from Kirsh that will reveal his true motivation, whether that involves betraying Prodigy, abandoning the hybrids, or even joining forces with Morrow, maybe in return for a payout from Yutani.
As for Wendy, she may no longer want to leave Neverland with Joe if she can’t get past Nibs’ death. Noticing how upset Wendy is, the Xenomorph is sure to do some more damage to whoever gets in Wendy’s way. The key to Alien: Earth season 1’s ending will be discovering what it is that Wendy wants and who is preventing her from getting it.
