The Walking Dead Confirms England Has Zero Survivors
Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3, episode 2, “La Ofrenda”.The wildfire virus is among the deadliest diseases in fiction, having wiped out most of the world’s population, and The Walking Dead has officially hinted at one country having no survivors left. Although the zombie franchise has primarily focused on how America coped with the outbreak, Daryl Dixon has branched out into other areas of the world.
Exploring European countries has allowed us to learn more about how The Walking Dead‘s zombie virus has impacted each place differently, putting a spotlight on the contrasting responses. Given that everything started in France, their government was easily the least prepared, yet the French established several safe zones, with numerous groups adopting their own unique philosophies and strategies.
Additionally, Greenland already had a small population to begin with, but it seems like the dead claimed most of the location, with the number of survivors being left unclear. Now, Daryl Dixon has revealed that Spain coped surprisingly well compared to most countries, and while it seemed like the UK had initially survived the outbreak, one British territory appears to have completely fallen.
England Officially Has No Survivors In The Walking Dead – How It Happened

Without exploring every single inch of the country, we can’t know for sure that England has zero survivors left, but according to Daryl Dixon season 3’s premiere, this is the case. After they arrived in Britain, Daryl and Carol had to search far and wide before encountering any zombies, managing to escape inside a flat where Julian eventually revealed himself.
During dinner, he claimed to be the last Englishman in England, with everyone else dying throughout the apocalypse. According to Julian, things were manageable at first, with the island being locked down and routes to Europe being cut off, preventing outsiders from getting in to stop the disease from spreading even quicker.
However, this eventually backfired as it denied people the chance to leave when things spiraled out of control, causing the UK to fall in The Walking Dead. While parts of Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland may have survived, it seems like England completely collapsed, and if Julian is to be believed, he was the sole survivor.
Unfortunately, his death during Daryl Dixon season 3’s opening episode leaves the country without a single known living person, and with the franchise appearing unlikely to return there anytime soon, we’re left to believe England belongs entirely to the dead.
Will The Walking Dead’s Heroes Repopulate England?

Despite it being overrun with walkers, England could actually be a great location for The Walking Dead‘s heroes to repopulate. Although the central characters have a pretty secure location in the Commonwealth as well as an alliance with the Civic Republic, England could actually be a strong place to rebuild if there really are no survivors.
The Walking Dead‘s Greg Nicotero claimed there were talks of doing an entire season of Daryl Dixon in London, but felt the location was too similar to some of Georgia’s scenery.
Using some of CRM’s technology, regular visits to the UK could be possible, and knowing there are no hostile humans there to steal resources or cause war could make it an ideal spot to set up camp. Even if the franchise’s main survivors didn’t move there, Civic Republic and Commonwealth residents could travel overseas and extend this ongoing alliance.
This would provide a potential safe zone elsewhere if things ever went wrong in America, while helping The Walking Dead continue to explore the rest of the world outside the US. Therefore, England could still be a potentially important location in the universe and a new home for some survivors, despite how unlikely it may seem.
