This new series is currently topping the streaming charts on Prime Video’s list of Top 10 most-viewed TV shows. It was just released with a three-episode premiere on August 27, 2025, making now the perfect time to dive into the series before it wraps up later this September.
Terminal List: Dark Wolf Is Very Similar To Taylor Sheridan’s Special Ops: Lioness
Fans of one of Sheridan’s most underrated shows, Lioness, will certainly enjoy its latest action thriller hit, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf. Both series follow elite CIA operatives who go on covert missions as they fight America’s battle against terrorism in the shadows.
Both Lioness and The Terminal: List Dark Wolf feature teams of CIA field agents with advanced military backgrounds. Oscar winner Zoe Saldaña leads the cast of Lioness as CIA operative Joe, while Taylor Kitsch reprises his role as Ben Edwards from The Terminal List.
The Terminal: List Dark Wolf is a prequel to The Terminal List, exploring Ben’s transition from the Navy SEALs to the CIA. The series also features Chris Pratt, who played Commander James Reece in the original series, along with a strong slate of supporting characters.
In the same vein, Lioness combines espionage elements with intense action sequences and a stellar supporting cast that make for a captivating viewing experience. The two series feel like they belong in the same universe due to all their similarities, but they ultimately follow separate narratives.
The Terminal List & Lioness Both Bounced Back From Divisive First Seasons

The Terminal List season 1 had mixed reviews from critics and great reviews from audiences, the latter of which prompted a franchise expansion. The series earned a Rotten Tomatoes score of just 40%, a stark contrast from its 94% audience score.
A second season of The Terminal List is still expected to be produced by Amazon, nevertheless. The increased critical reception of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf should hopefully speed up that process. The prequel earned an improved RT score of 73% and a solid audience score of 81%.
Lioness season 1, which was originally titled Special Ops: Lioness, had a similar debut fate as The Terminal List. The series received an RT score of just 56% for its first season, followed by a much-improved 90% rating for its second season.
However, Lioness season 2 had great reviews from critics and audiences, and season 3 is currently in the works. While all these numbers can be taken with a grain of salt, all fans of Lioness should absolutely check out The Terminal List: Dark Wolf exclusively on Prime Video.
