The first three episodes of Dark Wolf were added to Prime Video’s library earlier this week, kicking off a new era for the action thriller franchise that began three years ago. As usual, the prequel show will be compared to the original for its merits.
The Terminal List season 1 was based on the novel of the same name, and while The Terminal List season 2 is in development, this prequel show is providing some fresh material. The story adds context to the life of Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch), the ex-SEAL turned CIA operative who aided Chris Pratt’s Ben Edwards in season 1.

Three episodes into The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, my biggest takeaway has been the fantastic work done by the ensemble cast. I went into this series excited, being a fan of Taylor Kitsch from Friday Night Lights, but what really sold me on it was the full team of characters. Kitsch is great as Ben Edwards, but he’s not the whole show.
I’ll give a whole paragraph to Tom Hopper, who plays South African Navy SEAL Raife Hastings. He’s a new character in the franchise, but he’s phenomenal as a supporting player, elevating everyone around him and balancing Edwards’ chaos with stability and maturity. I’m hoping Hastings survives the season, as I’d love to see him become a franchise mainstay.
Robert Wisdom is another actor I’ve been familiar with for years due to his contributions to The Wire, and he’s perfect as an ominous CIA spymaster in Dark Wolf. Luke Hemsworth has barely had time to shine just yet, but I’m also looking forward to what he brings to the table.
Dark Wolf Needs An Ensemble In Chris Pratt’s Absence
When you’ve got a star as big as Chris Pratt in your series, there’s not as big a need for an ensemble cast. Chris Pratt’s movies have grossed nearly $10 billion at the worldwide box office, with franchises like Marvel and Jurassic Worldmaking him one of the most recognizable actors in the world.
The Terminal List: Dark Wolf has a fantastic cast of actors, and it doesn’t discredit any of their work to say that Chris Pratt is the marquee for this franchise. There’s a reason his name and face are on the posters even though he’s playing a supporting role in the series; he’s there to draw audiences into the spinoff.
