The Summer I Turned Pretty Dethroned By Prime Video Newcomer

After sitting in the top spot for weeks, Prime Video‘s most popular streaming show of the summer has been defeated by a familiar newcomer. There have been a multitude of popular Prime Video original series in 2025, from ongoing shows like Invincible season 3 to miniseries such as The Better Sister. One show has dominated the charts this summer, though.

That series is The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, the final installment in the TV show based on Jenny Han’s romance book trilogy of the same name. The final episodes began airing on July 16, with the show maintaining a Number 1 spot on Prime Video’s streaming charts for most of the time it’s been airing.

However, FlixPatrol confirmed that The Summer I Turned Pretty has been dethroned by The Terminal List: Dark Wolf as of September 1, 2025. The thriller spinoff to 2022’s The Terminal List has managed to eek its way to Number 1 on Prime Video’s charts, becoming a competitor to the romantic drama just five days after its three-episode premiere.

What The Terminal List: Dark Wolf’s Prime Video Success Means For The Show

The Terminal List: Dark Wolf‘s story takes place before the events of the main show. It focuses on Ben Edwards, a member of SEAL Team 5 destined to betray his team and his best friend, James Reece. The series has received better reception than the original show, and is the start of a planned universe for the action thriller franchise.

Despite how popular The Summer I Turned Pretty has been, the dark military show has managed to overtake it in popularity. While the numbers indicate the Number 1 spot could still fluctuate in the days and weeks to come, it seems The Terminal List: Dark Wolf will only continue to grow in popularity as new episodes come out.

It’s not shocking The Terminal List: Dark Wolf managed to overthrow The Summer I Turned Pretty from its Number 1 spot. The highly-anticipated spinoff is the start of the larger universe’s comeback, including The Terminal List season 2, which is currently filming. Hype for the show is a good sign for the franchise’s future, despite overtaking the romantic drama.

As for The Summer I Turned Pretty, the show is still high on Prime Video‘s charts, meaning even with The Terminal List: Dark Wolf overtaking it, the series is still getting plenty of viewership. If anything, the closeness for both series indicates their performances may change day-by-day as new episodes of each are released every week.

New episodes of The Summer I Turned Pretty and The Terminal List: Dark Wolf arrive Wednesdays on Prime Video.
