The Hulk Gets His Strongest MCU Upgrade Ever
The MCU just gave the Hulk his most immense power upgrade to date in the franchise, and it’s exactly as intense as you might expect. Though the Hulk certainly hasn’t been a pushover in the MCU timeline, he’s also often not been shown at his strongest, particularly since the character has commonly been used as comic relief during his appearances.
That said, the MCU is also more than happy to give the jade berserker his moments in the proverbial sun, though this does mean many of the Hulk’s strongest feats are where you might least expect them. This is certainly the case for the latest Hulk story, which contains the MCU’s biggest Hulk power upgrade yet.
The Hulk’s Latest MCU Power Upgrade Is Staggering
Marvel Zombies sees the story’s universe be saved from the threat of a zombie Thanos by T’Challa’s sacrifice – and placed into another looming disaster by Thanos’ defeat destroying the Infinity Gauntlet and the Stones within it, unleashing all their Infinity Energy on the world – which is shown to be so strong it obliterates the pyramids in the span of seconds.
In order to prevent this Infinity Energy from destroying Earth and quite possibly the rest of the galaxy, Bruce Banner is shown harnessing it, allowing the Hulk to act as a living conduit for this energy – with Marvel Zombies‘ finale revealing the Hulk now serves as an achor for the Infinity Energy, which could “make or destroy worlds“.
This is already clearly established as making the Hulk seriously powerful – in the sense that this version of the character is channeling a huge amount of raw energy that he could unleash at any time – but the fight sequence wherein the Scarlet Witch attacks the Infinity Hulk with an entire army goes a long way to reinforce this idea.
The Hulk is able to decimate a staggering number of enemies with little effort, and crush a zombified Thor, despite having already faced giants, Asgardians, and a range of other Marvel heavy-hitters. Wanda is only able to siphon the Infinity Energy from the Hulk afterward, despite being one of Marvel’s most powerful characters.
Marvel Zombies’ Hulk Power Upgrade Is Almost Impossible To Beat
The Infinity Stones are immensely powerful, and combining their collective energy with the Hulk’s own immense strength creates some staggering potential. Indeed, this is exactly what the story needs, as to stand against a version of the Scarlet Witch so powerful she’s capable of reversing her own zombification naturally requires a pretty intensely strong Hulk.
This combination of the Hulk’s natural strength and the untold world-altering forces of the Stones are so great that they even appear to best Marvel’s last biggest on-screen power upgrades for the Hulk – namely, that of the Apex Hulk and the Mega-Hulk, who both appeared in What If…?.
Though these Hulk behemoths – who were both made from the Hulk further irradiating himself to immense degrees, super-charging the Hulk’s form and power – are major figures, Apex Hulk was defeated by the Mega-Hulk, and the Mega-Hulk was defeated by the Mighty Avenger mech, whereas Infinity Hulk is only just defeated by a fully powered reality-warping Scarlet Witch after being weakened.
Given the eye-watering scale this suggests the Infinity Hulk’s powers are on, it seems unlikely the MCU will be able to top Marvel Zombies when it comes to Hulk power upgrades, since the extent a story would have to go to in order to do so would appear to be borderline absurd.
