Taylor Sheridan’s Lioness Officially Renewed For Season 3 On Paramount+

This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.

The fate of Taylor Sheridan’s Lioness has properly been decided after recent reports. First having launched in 2023 on Paramount+, the series revolves around Zoe Saldaña as a CIA senior case officer working to balance her high-stakes job with the titular agency, comprised of female operatives, with her home life as a wife and mother.

Serving as his fifth series on the streamer after Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, and Yellowstone prequels 1883 and 1923, Sheridan’s Lioness has enjoyed the same level of viewership success as his other projects. Talks of Lioness season 3 were underway even before season 2’s premiere, with Saldaña confirming being contracted for three seasons.

After reports in August pointed to its renewal, Paramount+ has officially confirmed Lioness will be returning for season 3. The studio had remained silent on whether the show would get another season pick-up, with nearly a year having passed since season 2 of the Sheridan-created and Saldaña-led action series ended.

Though it was previously said to be renewed in August, there are a few factors as to why Lioness season 3 is only just now being confirmed by Paramount+. For starters, it was previously reported that Nicole Kidman’s deal was part of the reason for the delay, given her role is so intrinsically tied to Saldaña’s character. Additionally, Sheridan is busy further building out his relationship with the studio.

But with the behind-the-scenes elements now lined up, Lioness season 3 can explore some of the fallout from the season 2 finale. Though everyone survived, much of the QRF team were left in rough shape after the helicopter crash in the mission, including Genesis Rodriguez’s Josie having her leg broken, James Jordan’s Tex taking a bullet to the stomach and LaMonica Garrett’s Two Cups being hit.

Additionally, while Saldaña’s Joe came out fairly unscathed and returned home to her family, she and Dave Annable’s Neal had some tension build throughout season 2. With a new mission going into Lioness season 3 likely to pull Joe back into the fray, and multiple years passing between the seasons, the family dynamic could be in a new complex place.
