Taylor Kitsch’s Terminal List Role Is A Reminder To Watch Lone Survivor
Amazon Prime Video‘s new action thriller seems to come off as the perfect reminder to watch a gritty 12-year-old war movie. The movie in question has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 75% and is often touted as one of the best movies with Navy SEAL characters ever made. It also has an ensemble cast and is based on an acclaimed book.
Prime Video’s consistent success with action thrillers has encouraged the streamer to invest heavily in the genre. Owing to this, the streaming service not only keeps adding new shows to its massive catalog of dad shows but also often renews several existing shows to continue its domination in the television genre.
A new addition to Prime Video’s dad show lineup serves as a spin-off/prequel to a commercially successful series. A closer look at many of its story beats makes it hard not to believe that viewers enjoying it on Prime Video will likely love a war movie that came out over a decade ago.
Taylor Kitsch’s Role In The Terminal List: Dark Wolf Is A Reminder To Watch Lone Survivor
Taylor Kitcsh plays a Navy SEAL in both Lone Survivor and The Terminal List. Interestingly, in both, his character makes a moral decision that gets his team members killed and eventually paves the way for his character’s death. In Lone Survivor, he orders to set a group of civilians in Afghanistan free, despite knowing that they are Taliban sympathizers.
With what follows, the villagers inform the Taliban about him and his team, encouraging them to pursue them before they flee the village. The Navy SEAL team is eventually outnumbered, which leads to the death of many members, including Taylor Kitsch’s character.
Even in The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, Taylor Kitsch portrays a former Navy SEAL, Ben Edwards, who becomes a CIA operative. The show serves as a prequel to The Terminal List, walking through all the events that lead Ben Edwards to play a direct role in an ambush that gets his former teammates killed.
Like his Lone Survivor character, Taylor Kitsch’s Ben Edwards also faces the consequences of his actions when his closest friend, James Reece, kills him. While his death is not confirmed on-screen, The Terminal List implies that karma eventually caught up with him.
With so many similarities between Taylor Kitsch’s character in the show and the movie, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is the perfect reminder to check out Lone Survivor.
Kitsch’s Navy SEAL Role In Dark Wolf Is Far Darker Than In Lone Survivor
Even though Taylor Kitsch’s character’s decision in Lone Survivor leads to disastrous consequences for him and his team, his heart seems to be in the right place. He realizes that even though the villagers would alert the Taliban, he believes it would not be morally right to kill them. Therefore, he takes the risk of letting them go.
Taylor Kitsch has also played a military figure in 2012’s Battleship, in which he leads the cast as U.S. Navy officer Lt. Alex Hopper.
As The Terminal List: Dark Wolf hints at in episode 4, Ben Edwards’ journey is far more complex and layered. After being forced to leave the Navy SEALs for taking justice in his own hands, Edwards feels betrayed. With what follows in the Amazon Prime Video series, he walks down a morally gray path that makes him do things he once would have considered unthinkable.
