Star Wars Copies MCU’s Deadpool & Wolverine Concept In LEGO Series
An unexpected Star Wars project just copied one of the best parts of the MCU’s Deadpool & Wolverine. In recent years, the MCU has branched out thanks to the possibilities of The Multiverse Saga. In some ways, the Star Wars timeline has done the same.
Various Star Wars TV shows have moved away from the constraints of canon to tell unique stories in the wider galaxy. The stories of Star Wars Visions are perhaps the prime examples of this, with various animation studios being granted the freedom to tell whatever story they would like, regardless of whether it fits with canon.
Upcoming Star Wars TV shows are set to continue this, as a project from 2025 proves. This project in question followed the concept of branching away from an established norm, taking Star Wars aspects and blending them with wider concepts, one of which was derived from the MCU’s Deadpool & Wolverine.
LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild The Galaxy – Pieces Of The Past Introduces The ForceHold
In September 2025, LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past was released. The four-part miniseries is a sequel to LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, released in 2024. In the sequel, Sig Greebling, a Jedi Force Builder in the LEGO Star Wars sect of the franchise, enlists allies in the fight against Solitus, a new dark side villain.
Solitus is introduced via the concept of the Force Hold, a separate realm that exists within the Force itself. The Force Hold includes characters from various dimensions of the LEGO Star Wars realm, as well as parts of different worlds that Solitus wants rid of.
Eventually, Solitus escapes into the main LEGO Star Wars galaxy and begins using the Force Hold as a dumping ground for anything he does not want to belong in his world.
The Force Hold Is Very Similar To Deadpool & Wolverine’s Void
In concept, LEGO Star Wars’ Force Hold is very similar to The Void from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Void was first introduced in Loki, before coming back in a much bigger way in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine. As with the Force Hold, The Void is used as somewhat of a junkyard.
As Loki and Deadpool & Wolverine explored, The Void was the purgatorial location where defunct locations, characters, and props from other timelines go to die. The Force Hold is very similar in LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past.
Even beyond the base purpose of the Force Hold as a junkyard, it has other similarities to The Void. Deadpool & Wolverine explored how The Void could be used as a personal empire for a villainous character like Cassandra Nova. Deadpool & Wolverine also introduced a resistance to Nova’s rule, adding more characters, factions, and settlements to The Void.
LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past does the same. One of the show’s episodes sees Sig and his brother Dev trapped in the Force Hold, leading them to encounter the last peaceful village of discarded Star Wars characters. They also infiltrate Solitus’ castle, which is run by evil versions of characters from across Star Wars lore.
LEGO Star Wars Has Other Deadpool & Wolverine Similarities
When looking at Deadpool & Wolverine‘s Void and LEGO Star Wars’ Force Hold a little deeper, more similarities emerge. In the former movie, The Void was used as somewhat of a swan song for the X-Men movie timeline and other “forgotten” Marvel characters.
The likes of Wesley Snipes’ Blade, Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, Chris Evans’ Human Torch, Channing Tatum’s Gambit, and several other characters from Marvel movies outside of the MCU were involved in the film. This allowed Deadpool & Wolverine to say goodbye to these characters in a way the MCU’s prime timeline wouldn’t allow for.
In LEGO Star Wars’ Force Hold, characters from several non-canon Star Wars Legends stories made appearances. Be it Darth Revan from Star Wars‘ Old Republic era or Jaxxon T. Tumperakki, characters who either originated in Legends or remain part of non-canon stories were paid homage to.
Evidently, Star Wars copied Deadpool & Wolverine in the best way, allowing for a creative story packed with wider references from the franchise.
