Star Wars Comic Enhances Force Awakens Deleted Scene
Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Han Solo – Hunt For The Falcon #2A new Star Wars story just made one of The Force Awakens‘ best deleted scenes even better. Although there weren’t many scenes removed from the final cut of Episode VII, one in particular should have absolutely been kept (especially now).
Marvel Comics’ newest canonical Star Wars comic is Han Solo – Hunt for the Falcon, a new miniseries detailing the iconic smuggler’s search for his stolen ship just before the events of The Force Awakens alongside Chewbacca. However, the second issue goes back even further into Solo’s past, potentially connecting (and even improving) a key deleted scene from The Force Awakens.
One Force Awakens Deleted Scene Totally Deserved To Be In The Movie
Just before the movie’s final confrontation between Han Solo and his son, who’d fallen to the dark side, there was going to be a scene where Kylo Ren and his troops find and search the Millennium Falcon. Having sensed his father’s presence the moment Solo landed on the surface of Starkiller Base with Finn and Chewbacca, Kylo Ren is shown entering the Falcon’s cockpit.
Taking a moment, Kylo Ren says his father’s name out loud while dwelling upon their shared past (before the interruption of Resistance starfighters in orbit). Although it would have been a great moment to have seen on-screen, the deleted scene was released with physical copies of The Force Awakens, and it’s still considered canon according to the movie’s official novelization.
Now, Marvel’s new Hunt for the Falcon series has just revealed a new Solo family core memory, one that Kylo Ren could very well have been thinking of in this deleted sequence.
Star Wars Just Made This Deleted Scene So Much Better
While searching for his stolen ship in the new Hunt for the Falcon #2, Han Solo is similarly shown dwelling upon the past, specifically the first moment his young son made the jump to lightspeed while piloting the Millennium Falcon (long before Snoke’s corruption and back when the Solo Family was still together).
It’s a key moment in their shared past, directly confirming that the Millennium Falcon was just as much of a home for the Solo Family as anywhere else. Keeping that in mind, it feels right that Kylo Ren was likely thinking of this same moment in the aforementioned deleted Force Awakens scene, or at least a very similar memory from his childhood alongside his parents.
All things considered, a first lightspeed jump certainly feels like a worthy enough memory…while also making Ben’s murder of Han Solo even more tragic at the same time.

Hailing from Corellia, Han Solo deserted the Empire to become a smuggler, and he spent years working for the Hutts as a spice runner. Han’s life changed forever when he agreed to transport Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker to Alderaan from Tatooine, and he soon became an important member of the Rebel Alliance. Han’s romance with Leia Organa became the stuff of legend, and they married shortly after the Battle of Endor. Sadly, their relationship ended in tragedy when their son Ben fell to the dark side – eventually killing Han. Still, memories of Han helped bring Ben back to the light.

Star Wars: Resistance
The son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, Ben was manipulated by Palpatine through the Force for most of his life, influenced toward the dark side of the Force. A misstep by Luke Skywalker ultimately left Ben feeling he had no choice but to embrace the dark side, and he became Kylo Ren, a key figure in the First Order. Kylo Ren’s heart remained deeply divided, however, even after he ascended to become Supreme Leader of the First Order. He was ultimately redeemed by Rey, with whom he shared a remarkable Force bond, and by the love of his parents.
