Rupert Grint Shines in Chilling Apple TV+ Series Servant

Harry Potter’s Rupert Grint is undeniably most famous for his role as the title character’s best friend in the franchise, but the actor also starred in Apple TV+’s hit series, Servant. Grint, who was born in Harlow, Essex, England, has amassed an impressive acting resume since his work in Harry Potter.

While none of his movies and TV shows have become as big as the popular franchise, there’s no denying that he’s one of the most successful actors in the Harry Potter cast. Eight years after the movie series came to a conclusion, Grint appeared in Servant, a chilling horror TV show that ran from 2019 to 2023 for four seasons.

The Harry Potter movie franchise came to a conclusion in 2011, but thankfully, Servant provides an opportunity for fans of Grint to see the actor in another role. Created by Tony Basgallop and produced by M. Night Shyamalan, Servant centers around the Turners, a family whose lives are upended after they hire a mysterious nanny, Leanne, to look after their son, Jericho.

In the Apple TV+ horror series, Grint plays Julian Pearce, Dorothy Turnser’s brother, who immediately suspects that not all is right with his sister’s nanny. Servant is a chilling horror like no other, as each season of the show upped the tension. All the show’s installments are simply perfection, with twists that will keep audiences on edge, especially as Leanne’s true motivations are brought to light.

What Servant does exceptionally well is that it doesn’t seek to answer all the questions that are raised during the show. Instead, it uses psychological elements of horror and dark tone to create a tense and foreboding atmosphere. While Servant is creepy in many ways, it’s a show that heavily relies on grief and the consequences of not letting go of the things that we cannot control.

Servant Shows A Whole New Side To Rupert Grint After The Harry Potter Films

Ron Weasley is one of the best characters in the Harry Potter franchise, and that’s all thanks to Grint’s performance. While the actor was great in the billion-dollar movies, it was essential for him to make a name for himself, even though he would always be associated with his biggest role.

Fortunately, Servant proved that he was more than capable of that. Ron was famous for his sense of humor and, at times, immaturity, but Grint’s character in Servant is nothing like that. Granted, Julian could also be funny, especially when he was interacting with his sister’s husband, but he also had a cunning and dark side to him.

Julian is snobby and arrogant, but at heart, he is a man who deeply cares about his family, which is kind of similar to Harry Potter’s Ron. The actor also got to show a vulnerable side to himself in Servant, particularly when Julian had to console his sister after she lost her child.

Grint’s emotional depth is incredible to watch in the finished Apple TV+ series, with his performance contributing to why the show is held in such high regard by critics and audiences. The Harry Potter films might have put the actor on the map, but Servant showed that he is a force to be reckoned with.
