Release, Cast, Story & Latest News

MGM+’s supernatural horror series From has already enjoyed a successful three-season run thus far, and it has now scored a season 4 renewal. Debuting in 2022, the series concerns a mysterious town in Middle America that traps those who enter and is surrounded by deadly monsters haunting the woods outside the city.

Taking the mind-bending premise of shows like Lost and adding a frightening twist, From quickly cemented itself as one of the premiere horror series in the heavily saturated world of streaming TV. The ending of From season 3 set the stage for a more terrifying season 4, and each new discovery poses more questions instead of answering them.

The true power of the series has been its mysteries, and like the best puzzles, each twist sets up even more mindbending storytelling. With From earning almost universal praise (including commendations from the master of horror, Stephen King), the show’s future looks bright. Thankfully, more twists are officially in store now that MGM+ has opted to renew From for a fourth season.

Nearly a year after From season 4 was initially renewed, the latest news arrives in the form of a release window tease, new cast members, and a production update. Though there were hopes that the series would return before the end of 2025, it was confirmed in late August that From season 4 would premiere in 2026.

Tabitha actress Catalina Sandino Moreno previously suggested that the series would return in early 2026, but that timeline hasn’t been confirmed. Though the exact window in 2026 is still unclear, taking a little over a year between seasons isn’t unheard of in the age of streaming, and all three seasons of From have been released at different times of the year.

Other recent news includes Julia Doyle (Astrid and Lily Save the World) joining the cast of From as Sophia. Doyle’s new character is described as a sheltered and vulnerable pastor’s daughter, who finds herself trapped as Fromville’s newest resident. So far, Doyle is the only new cast member confirmed for season 4.

Also in August, it was revealed by Moreno that From season 4’s production is expected to wrap in November 2025. Filming began in June in Nova Scotia, and is currently still underway.

From the start of season 3, speculation began concerning From season 4, and MGM+ didn’t leave fans in suspense for very long. Coming just days before the finale of season 3, MGM+ opted to renew the horror series for another season. This affirms the streamer’s confidence in the highly-praised original series, and it likely means that the show could stretch on for quite some time.

To commemorate the renewal, the official From page on X (formerly Twitter) shared a video of series star Harold Perrineau plucking a bottle from a tree that reads “From season 4 coming soon.”

It has also been announced that season 4 began filming in June 2025, and is gunning for an early 2026 release. By delaying the release past 2025, From season 4 breaks the show’s release trend of having one new season premiere in each calendar year since its 2022 debut.

Production is currently still underway in Nova Scotia, Canada, which is where the show’s previous seasons were filmed. From season 4’s filming is expected to conclude in November 2025, which would support the reported early-to-mid 2026 release date estimate.

From Season 4 Cast Details

After some shocking deaths in From season 3, the cast of season 4 will be missing some key players from previous seasons, such as Tian-Chen Liu’s Elizabeth Moy, Dale’s Cliff Saunders, and Tillie’s Deborah Grover. However, with the recent casting of Julia Doyle as the new sheltered Fromville resident Sophia, the series is slowly replacing the town’s vacancies in season 4.

However, the consistent force throughout the show’s entire run has been Harold Perrineau as Boyd Stevens, the town’s de facto sheriff and leader, and he’ll officially be back in season 4. Despite her status being left in limbo at the beginning of season 3, Catalina Sandino Moreno will once again be on hand to play Tabitha Matthews for season 4.

Eion Bailey seemed like another shoo-in for the season 4 cast, but Jim Matthews’ shocking death at the hands of the mysterious Man in Yellow in the season 3 finale means he probably won’t be back. However, with time travel being implemented in the series, almost anyone could return at some point.

Also among those confirmed to return in season 4 are Elizabeth Saunders as Donna, the leader of the Colony House. Like previous years, season 4 will likely expand its ensemble further, though those are impossible to predict until more info is available.

Like many mind-bending horror shows, the plot of From is punctuated by humongous twists and turns that could take the series in literally any direction at a moment’s notice. The finale of From season 3 was not without a few shocking surprises, though it mostly served to reveal the cyclical nature of the town’s evil.

With From‘s Smiley monster reborn, there is a dark sense of hopelessness as everything seems to be in vain. However, some things changed with Jim’s death, and the residents of the town are capable of threatening the monsters in their own way.

The next season will likely see the survivors attempt to capitalize on what they’ve learned and make adjustments. Learning through Jade and Tabitha’s reincarnation twist that everything is a cycle may seem hopeless, but it also offers the survivors a chance to analyze the pattern and find ways to break it.

However, the more they resist the cycle, the more their lives are put in jeopardy in From season 4. As the story continues, it’s expected that we’ll get more answers regarding the Man in Yellow’s identity and true role in down, a deeper look at the “Anghkooey” children’s history and Tabitha and Jade’s past incarnations, and Julie exploring her time-travel “story walker” abilities.
