Peacemaker season 2, episode 4 features multiple Easter eggs and DCU references, including a big one about Superman’s status on Earth. Following his return from a parallel reality, Chris Smith is now on the run from ARGUS, and he’s taking his Quantum Unfolding Chamber with him. Along the way, we get some key references to Chris’s past.
In Peacemaker season 2, episode 3, Chris experiences the seemingly better alt reality that was once home to his now deceased doppleganger. Now, this new episode sees Chris grappling with the much harsher reality that is his own dimension. Here are all the biggest Easter eggs, references, DCU ties, and fun factoids we found in Peacemaker season 2, episode 4.
Superman Was Not Earth’s First Alien – The Quantum Unfolding Chamber’s Origins Revealed
Right off the bat, Peacemaker season 2, episode 4 reveals the true origins of the Quantum Unfolding Chamber that once belonged to Chris’ father.
Rather than creating it himself, the device capable of generating a pocket universe with access to other dimensions belonged to an alien, one that Auggie shot and killed while hunting with his sons 35 years before the events of the modern-day DCU.
Seeing as how James Gunn’s Superman confirms Kal-El came to Earth 30 years ago, this newly revealed alien predates the Man of Steel.
Hagrid

En route to Peacemaker’s house with a full ARGUS task force, Michael Rooker’s Red St. Wild refers to John Economos as “Hagrid”, the half-giant groundskeeper from the Harry Potter franchise (due to the tech analyst’s large size and beard).
“Captain Cultural Appropriation”
Later on, Economos refers to Red St. Wild as “Captain Cultural Appropriation”, first referencing the many superheroes with “Captain” at the front of their name, as well as Red’s rather problematic attire clearly adopted from indigenous cultures.
“Kung Fu Bulbasaur”
Economos was definitely on a roll with all the nicknames in Peacemaker season 2, episode 4, calling Judomaster “Kung Fu Bulbasaur” due to his small size and green costume. However, this is also Peacemaker season 2’s second Pokémon reference, the first one being when John and Agent Fleury were debating the plural of the word “Pokémon” in Peacemaker season 2, episode 2.
White Dragon’s Super-Intelligence (Only In The Comics)
Peacemaker confirms to Leota Adebayo that his father did not build the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, and that Auggie Smith flunked out of 10th grade. This confirms that the DCU’s White Dragon does not have the super-intelligence of his DC Comics counterpart.
Punched Out Teeth
Emilia Harcourt makes her debut in this episode by punching out a thug’s teeth, shown flying out of the guy’s mouth in slow motion.
This is not unlike the ending of James Gunn’s Superman when the Man of Steel punches teeth out of one of Lex Luthor’s Raptor soldiers. Those teeth also fly out in slow motion, along with some subtle fourth wall breaking when they “bounce” off the camera.
Rick Flag Sr.’s Past Injury (Clayface)
Rick Flag Gets His Back Broken By Clayface in Creature Commandos Episode 5
Meeting with Harcourt to get her help with Peacemaker, Rick Flag Sr. confirms he recently broke his back while dealing with “Waller’s bulls***.”
Rick Sr. also mentions the European nation of Pokolistan. This was where the majority of the animated Creature Commandos series took place, involving Task Force M and the incident involving the Amazonian sorceress Circe and Princess Ilana Rostovic.
Twilight Zone

After hearing about how Chris Smith killed his own doppleganger and has already met alternate versions of his father, brother, Rick Flag Jr., and Harcourt, Adebayo’s first response is to call the entire thing “somef***ed up Twilight Zone s***!“. The Twilight Zone was the classic 1959 anthology series hosted by Rod Serling, featuring various sci-fi, horror, and supernatural elements.
Dark Dimension
Dormammu ruling the Dark Dimension in Doctor Strange
Peacemaker refers to his life in the primary DCU as the “Dark Dimension,” a reality where he can never seem to catch a break. In the MCU, the Dark Dimension is a real place ruled by Dormammu, having been first featured in 2016’s Doctor Strange.
