Netflix’s Epic Adaptation You Can’t Miss
The best TV series on Netflix is an epic series I’m almost certain you haven’t heard of. Netflix releases a higher volume of original shows than every other streaming service, and this includes some relatively obscure content from around the world. It’s often the case that great material gets overlooked.
The best shows to stream on Netflix right now include Wednesday season 2, part 2, and other hit new releases. There are also plenty of ongoing titles to catch up on, including an adaptation of a celebrated classic novel.
One Hundred Years Of Solitude Is An Incredible Adaptation Of A Classic Novel
When I say a show is the “best” on any platform, I don’t say that lightly. There are plenty of ongoing shows on Netflix that I love: Beef, Stranger Things, and Wednesday, to name a few. With that in mind, the streaming platform’s adaptation of One Hundred Years of Solitude is one of the most impressive TV shows I’ve ever seen.
Gabriel García Márquez’s novel of the same name was published in 1967, and it’s one of the most beautiful books ever written. When I heard Netflix was making an adaptation, I scoffed at the idea, considering it to be impossible to bring to the screen properly; I expected it to be a disaster; I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Not only is this series one of the most faithful book adaptations I’ve watched, it’s one of the most brilliant productions. The cast might not be familiar to American audiences, but they’re exceptional in their roles, complementing the top-notch production value that helps build Márquez’s world with the fantastical imagination one would hope for.
This show has been celebrated by fans of the novel (a rare feat for a Hollywood production), but it’s also incredibly entertaining. This is an epic series with magical elements, historical fiction-like battles, and compelling character work. My only suggestion is to dive into it and embrace the weirdness of the story. That’s what makes it so outstanding.
One Hundred Years Of Solitude Is Expecting A Second Season
Getting a second season is always a challenge, and One Hundred Years of Solitude was evidently an expensive project. The Colombian production was planned to split Gabriel García Márquez’s novel into two seasons, and a total of sixteen episodes.
The first season consists of half the story, and season 2 is currently in production. The show will be roughly sixteen hours of television in total, a worthy amount of time to fulfill the story. One Hundred Years of Solitude is such a phenomenal TV series, I can barely believe it exists. I can’t wait to see what season 2 brings.
