LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy Season 2 Reviews: Andor-Level Praise

A new Star Wars show is receiving near-perfect reviews that rival Andor. The critically acclaimed series led by Diego Luna recently won five Emmy Awards for season 2, including Dan Gilroy winning Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series in recognition of the “Welcome to the Rebellion” episode.

Despite Andor‘s success with critics and general audiences, the future of Star Wars TV shows has remained somewhat unclear, especially as Lucasfilm begins prioritizing movies again with the upcoming releases of The Mandalorian & Grogu and Star Wars: Starfighter.

However, LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy–Pieces of the Past is now receiving rave reviews ahead of the four episodes coming to Disney+ on September 19. The series acts as a continuation from the first season that premiered on Disney+ in 2024. Check out some of the reviews below:

ScreenRant‘s Molly Brizzell emphasizes that Pieces of the Past “truly honors Star Wars fans”, along with praising the “heartfelt life lesson” that the episodes teach.

Mollie Damon of Star Wars Explained reveals that Pieces of the Past is “a worthy sequel” to Rebuild the Galaxy season 1 and teases that the new villain, Solitus (Dan Stevens), will resonate with all ages who watch the show.

What This Means For Rebuild the Galaxy–Pieces Of The Past

Following the positive reviews for Andor and Skeleton Crew, Star Wars has delivered another stellar television series with Pieces of the Past. As a LEGO show that is not canon, it inevitably will not reach as many viewers as the live-action Andor and Skeleton Crew, but it is already a hit in the Star Wars fandom.

Rebuild the Galaxy season 1 was celebrated for being hilarious, heartfelt, and narratively satisfying after the galaxy was forever changed, and the characters had to learn to live with the consequences. Season 2 seemingly builds on these strengths with potentially even better results this time around.

For those who want a Star Wars version of Marvel’s What If…? series, Rebuild the Galaxy is the closest thing to it, exploring a galaxy that features Darth Jar Jar Binks, Lando Calrissian as the Landolorian, Jedi Master Palpatine, and Sith Lord Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Our Take On Pieces Of The Past’s Reviews

Since I watched Rebuild the Galaxy season 1 and every new Star Wars show, I was going to check out Pieces of the Past anyway, but these reviews now make me more excited about it. They are a reminder of how good season 1 was, and that season 2 even manages to raise the bar further.

From the new villain Solitus to the BrickHeadz version of Ahsoka Tano voiced by Ashley Eckstein, the characters in Pieces of the Past are already compelling, and the reviews make me even more eager to see their stories.

Skeleton Crew, Andor, and now Pieces of the Past all receiving critical acclaim within the same year is a reminder of how much Star Wars can experiment with tone and different genres, and that the franchise is at its best when there is variety.
