Key Events During the Time Jump
Warning: This article includes SPOILERS for My Life With the Walter Boys season 2!
My Life With the Walter Boys has returned for season 2, and many events have occurred in the two-and-a-half-month time jump that will impact the story and characters. The second season returns audiences to Silver River, Colorado (which is actually filmed in Cochrane and Calgary, Alberta, Canada).
However, the show doesn’t pick up right where it left off. Instead, there is about a two-and-a-half-month time jump between the two seasons of My Life With the Walter Boys, picking up right as the new school year begins.
Even though that sounds like a short time period, a lot happens for the characters over the summer, which will shape their storylines going forward. These are the biggest events that viewers need to know about.
Jackie Takes The Internship In New York City
At the end of My Life with the Walter Boys season 1, Jackie interviews for an internship that could take her to multiple cities. Ultimately, she chooses to go back to NYC partly to escape the fallout from kissing Cole and partly because she’s eager to go home. However, rather than telling everyone, she just leaves without saying a word.
Unfortunately, she realizes that the city isn’t the same without her family. This leads her to look for a boarding school so she can leave New York City without having to return to Colorado.
Jackie Stops Talking To Cole & Alex
For all her strengths, Jackie has one fatal flaw. Jackie cannot handle the idea of facing the consequences of her actions. She not only kisses Cole, but she also doesn’t say “I love you” back to Alex at the wedding.
As such, she completely shuts both of her love interests out over the summer. This leaves both of them to stew in their emotions, never giving them clarity about how she’s feeling or where they stand.
In My Life with the Walter Boys season 1, Isaac seems like he’s trying to figure out where he fits in at school. This leads him to audition for the school play, which ends up being a little bit outside his comfort zone. Now, he’s delving into another area of the high school extracurriculars: football.
Over the summer, former football quarterback Cole trains his brother Isaac for the same position. He’s able to get Isaac in good enough shape that he gets named the second-string quarterback on Silver Falls High School’s football team.
Danny & Erin Start Secretly Dating
It’s clear, throughout My Life With the Walter Boys season 1, that Erin and Danny have a lot of chemistry. They start laying the foundation for them to become a couple about halfway through the first season. It becomes undeniable when they read the Shakespeare scene and nearly kiss each other.
Luckily, over the course of the summer, they finally start a romance over text. Despite feeling confident about their relationship, they don’t go public with it. They keep this a secret, letting the rest of the Walters think that it’s a girl from New York.
Cole Dedicates Himself To School
Cole spends quite a bit of time spiraling after his career-ending injury, and this results in his giving up at school. His grades have absolutely tanked, meaning he has to attend summer school if he wants any chance at graduating and attending college.
While he initially refuses, Cole decides at the end of My Life With the Walter Boys season 1 to enroll. Based on his past behavior, it’s unclear whether he will actually dedicate himself. However, he does actually give summer school his all, and he even gets a tutor to help him in subjects where he’s struggling.
Alex Has A Glow-Up & Gets Popular
Alex in My Life With the Walter Boys season 1 looks very different in My Life With the Walter Boys season 2. He has changed his hairstyle and started wearing more form-fitting clothes that show off his muscles. He also has a newfound confidence and swagger, which impacts the way he interacts with others.
Plus, Alex getting a rodeo scholarship made him extremely popular with the girls at his school. Girls who previously never looked his direction are now flocking to him, showing just how much of a glowup he’s had over the course of two and a half months. This will undoubtedly impact his friendships and relationships.
Alex Decides He Wants To Start Riding Broncos
Over the summer, Alex was at rodeo camp, learning to ride better. He grows immensely as a barrel racer, which is his particular specialty. However, a professional rodeo star comes to do a demonstration for them, showing them how saddle bronc riding works.
Alex is immediately drawn to the event and comes back after the summer, ready to convince his parents to let him start riding bucking broncos. He even believes he could use bronc riding to get money for college.
Hayley Gets Selected For A Semester Abroad In Chile
One of the biggest things that happened in My Life With the Walter Boys season 1 is that Hayley receives a mysterious text message, which she lies about.
Zoë Soul, who plays Hayley Walter, only appears in two episodes of My Life With the Walter Boys season 2.
It turns out, the person reaching out is offering her an opportunity that will further her career. She can go study abroad for a semester in Chile, where she’ll have hands-on experience in her field. She and Will discuss the possibility of him coming with her, and he declines.
Will, Richard, & George Move Forward With The Countryside Getaway
The final big event that happens during My Life With the Walter Boys’ time jump is that Will, Richard, and George decide to move forward with Will’s idea of creating a countryside getaway to save the Walters’ ranch.
They create plans and sign a contract, with Richard finding all the funding for the project. By the time My Life With the Walter Boys season 2 starts, they’re already starting to prepare to break ground. All they have to do is get the permits and approvals.
