Kanye West Rapping for Drake In Unreleased Documentary Footage

The documentary on Kanye West, titled In Whose Name, contains over 3,000 hours of footage, captured by director Nico Ballesteros, and a newly released clip shows the embattled artist rapping for Drake.

Ballesteros, who was 18 when he began filming, was given full access to West, who can be seen dealing with Bipolar Disorder, his marriage to Kim Kardashian breaking down, and he’s heard making anti-Semitic remarks, which would eventually sever his business relationships, including his deal with Adidas.

Ye Rapping For Drake

The lyrics that West rapped for Drake ended up on “Wouldn’t Leave,” his song with PARTYNEXTDOOR. The cut lives on West’s 2018 album Ye, and Drake was noticeably impressed in the clip, saying, “That verse is crazy. I know what that is, I get excited about those.”

In another trailer, released last month, the GOOD Music artist can be seen arguing with Kardashian, and he’s heard talking about his desire to get off Bipolar medication.

There are also shots of him working on his YEEZY brand and putting on his Sunday Service shows. “The best thing about being an artist and Bipolar? Anything you do and say is an art piece,” West says in the clip.

Drake And Ye’s Unresolved Issues

The last time Drake and West were friendly with each other was right around the time the Chicago beat-maker offered Drake the instrumental for “Lift Off” before keeping the track for himself.

He released it in 2018 and delivered nonsensical rhymes, a move that Drake considered a troll. Later, the OVO artist spoke about feeling betrayed during a stop at LeBron James’ HBO show The Shop, saying that West offered him the beat but with the contingency that he come to Wyoming to help him work on new music.

West eventually apologized to Drake for the “Lift Off” fiasco, but that didn’t end their beef, even though it was temporarily suspended at the Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert, with the help of Rap-A-Lot Records founder J. Prince. Today, West and Drake are still on the outs with each other, and there are no signs that’ll change anytime soon.

In Whose Name will be in theaters on September 19, and it’ll be jointly released by AMSI Entertainment, Regal, Cinemark, and AMC.
