House Of The Dragon Season 3 To Open With Epic Battle
The recent tease for House of the Dragon season 3 sets up a major franchise-first. House of the Dragon season 3 is deep into its production, which began in April and is expected to end in October. Meanwhile, members of the cast have had opportunities to share some insight into exactly what’s being filmed.
We know from House of the Dragon season 2’s ending that battles are coming, but it’s even more exciting to hear about the filming process from the actors’ mouths. Every behind-the-scenes photo and description makes it sound like House of the Dragon season 3 will be one of the most epic, cinematic TV seasons of all time.
Alicent Hightower Actress Olivia Cooke Described HOTD Season 3’s Opening As “Ferocious”
Speaking about House of the Dragon season 3, Olivia Cooke shared with Collider that the “first two eps were essentially supposed to be our finale last year,” and that the climactic energy carries over. House of the Dragon season 2 was cut short for budgetary reasons, with the final two battle episodes removed from the script.
Cooke’s comments confirm that season 3 will “start with a bang,” and bring energy that’s “more ferocious than ever before.” Given the montage at the end of season 2, audiences can expect the franchise’s first naval battle, the Battle of the Gullet, and Rhaenyra’s return to King’s Landing, both of which will be packed with drama.
House of the Dragon season 3’s opening episodes look to be must-watch television, offering conflict on the scale of “The Red Dragon and the Gold” and “Blackwater,” hopefully delivering some of the franchise’s best battles. With season 2 cutting these moments out, these need to be exceptional episodes.
The Game Of Thrones Franchise Has Never Opened A Season With A Battle
Notably, this is the first time a season of the Game of Thrones franchise has ever opened with a massive battle. Typically, battle sequences had been left for the penultimate episodes, such as “The Battle of the Bastards” and “The Watchers on the Wall.” This will be a drastic tonal shift for the beginning of the new season, setting the bar instantly.
The best part about all of this is that House of the Dragon season 3 will likely have battles at the end of the season as well. At this point, with only two seasons remaining to reach the end of the Dance of the Dragons, they need to hasten the narrative, which includes several pivotal battles.
Behind-the-scenes photos from House of the Dragon season 3 indicate the season could reach as far as the First Battle of Tumbleton, and if there’s going to be a fourth major conflict, I’d guess Butcher’s Ball.
