Hotel Costiera on Prime Video

Hotel Costiera is a new action comedy series streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. The series stars Jesse Williams, best known for his iconic role as Dr. Jackson Avery in Grey’s Anatomy, as an ex-Marine-turned-fixer named Daniel De Luca.

Daniel returns to Italy on the Amalfi Coast, where he works and resides at a luxurious hotel, becoming the right-hand man of a wealthy resort owner. Daniel solves various problems that come about in the 6-episode series, including locating a missing dog and eventually searching for the missing daughter of the resort owner.

All episodes of Hotel Costiera season 1, which debuted on September 24, 2025, are now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The series is a light-hearted action drama with elements of mystery and comedy. Alongside Williams’ lead performance are Jordan Alexandra (3 Body Problem), Sam Haygarth (Masters of the Air), and more.

Why You Should Press Play On Hotel Costiera

Hotel Costiera is a great show to watch if you’re looking for something scenic, breezy, and simple. The location is the standout quality of the series since it was filmed along the desirable Amalfi Coast, where Netflix’s Emmy-winning series Ripley was filmed. That said, Hotel Costiera is nothing at all like Ripley, which could be a good thing depending on the viewer.

Hotel Costiera’s plot isn’t unserious but it can be quite silly. There are plenty of action scenes, but it never makes you feel overwhelmed or fueled by adrenaline. The entire show is sort of inconsequential, but Williams is charming enough to keep interested viewers around. In fact, Hotel Costiera is full of beautiful actors and actresses, which may make up for its often soapy performances and jumpy pace.

You could say that Hotel Costiera is a very watered-down version of modern mysteries set in tropical/luxurious settings like Rian Johnson’s Knives Out movies and HBO’s The White Lotus. There’s nothing about Hotel Costiera that is groundbreaking, but it is moderately entertaining, occasionally funny, and full of romantically charged intrigue.

Why You May Want To Pass On Hotel Costiera

The story is arguably the most unappealing part of Hotel Costiera. It’s a lot like Rian Johnson’s Peacock series Poker Face, in which the protagonist solves a new mystery per episode, while there’s also a season-long problem to solve lingering in the background. That said, it’s missing the punchiness and style of Poker Face. By comparison, it’s pretty bland.

The drama at play throughout Hotel Costiera is just not that compelling. The series never truly demands your attention beyond its aesthetic qualities. The characters are mostly flat and one-dimensional. Tension is hardly felt, and the stakes are never high enough. Everything is simply fine, overly polished, and a bit lifeless, largely due to the elementary camera choices and tepid script. You’ll also have to read a fair share of subtitles since the series is partly in Italian.

Bingeability

Mid – It’s short enough but not attention-holding

Performances

Mid – Mostly one-note and often unconvincing

Story

Poor – Low stakes and tension, mildly entertaining

Setting

Strong – Gorgeously scenic and perfectly escapist

Perfect For Fans Of

Jesse Williams, Mystery, Stunning scenery

Our Expert’s Pick: Skip it. Hotel Costiera isn’t all that bad, but there are so many better TV options this time of year that you’d be better off spending the 5+ hours binge-watching something else, unless you’re a Jesse Williams fan.
