Gen V Season 2’s Gory Opening Scene Sets New Franchise Record
Gen V season 2’s opening scene sets a new bar for the franchise, six years after it started. Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys is known for its vile material, with the series constantly trying to top itself with sexual, violent, or other outright disgusting material. The first spinoff series, Gen V, is no different.
For those who love superheroes as well as the most disturbing shock value available in mainstream television, this franchise is the perfect fit. Luckily, Gen V season 2 began on Amazon Prime Video today, and the season’s opening scene shows no signs of letting up on the gruesome content.
Gen V Season 2 Has The Goriest Opening Scene In The Boys Universe
There’s nothing like a cold open, The Boys style, and Gen V season 2’s opening scene is one of the most insane yet. The opening scene shows a science experiment gone wrong, and we’re not about a lightning bolt and mysterious chemicals. In The Boys fashion, this scene has men vomiting blood, combusting, melting, and imploding in the goriest manner possible.
The Boys season 1 had a rather dark opening, with A-Train running through Hughie’s girlfriend. Gen V season 1 had Marie accidentally killing her parents. With the rest being relatively tame for this franchise, Gen V season 2 easily takes the cake for the most disgusting introductory sequence, paired with the classic 1967 song “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”
Gen V season 2’s opening sequence is far from the most despicable in the franchise, but it sets the tone for the season. In just the show’s first three episodes, there are plenty of other examples, and the season is still young. With five episodes still to go, there’s plenty of potential for more.
Season 2’s Opening Confirms The Boys Is Still Finding New Ways To Top Itself
With The Boys season 5 on the way, fans of the series will be happy to know creator Eric Kripke isn’t slowing down with the horrifying material. Gen V’s opening scene signals more of the same to come, and the franchise will constantly try to beat its own records. Even fans with the thickest of stomachs will be put to the test.
Eric Kripke is on record numerous times sharing his excitement for some of the show’s most brutal sequences. Absolutely depraved episodes like “Herogasm” are just the beginning, as The Boys franchise continues to expand with more spinoffs. Vought Rising, The Boys: Mexico, and future Gen V seasons will continue to find creative ways to horrify the audience.
