Friday Night Lights Finds New Streaming Home On Prime Video
After fans haven’t been able to stream Friday Night Lights for months, the acclaimed show has found a new home. The TV drama focuses on a small town’s high school football team and its coach, who are obsessed over by the local population. Friday Night Lights aired for five seasons between 2006 and 2011.
Based on both H. G. Bissinger’s 1980 novel and Peter Berg’s 2004 movie of the same name, the series featured a star-studded cast, including Kyle Chandler, who won an Emmy for his work, Connie Britton, who was nominated for two Emmys, and Taylor Kitsch. A decade after a film continuation failed to get off the ground, a Friday Night Lights reboot was acquired by Peacock.
Now, as September 2025 kicks off, Friday Night Lights is now available to stream on Prime Video. That means that viewers with Prime Video accounts can now watch the acclaimed series at their convenience. The last time the show was available to stream in the U.S. was before it left Netflix in December.

Friday Night Lights’ legacy appears to be poised to go through a resurgence in the weeks and months to come. Step one of cementing the show’s legacy is it becoming available to stream again. Based on the show’s impressive reviews, both during its run, and in the years since, it seems likely a new streaming home will also give it a new fanbase.
On Rotten Tomatoes, reviews from critics have currently earned Friday Night Lights a 97% Tomatometer score, with seasons 3-5, more notably, holding perfect 100% scores from critics, a rare feat for any TV show. Additionally, the website’s users also love the show enough to give it an average 93% Popcornmeter grade.
Given that Friday Night Lights earned impressive scores like those, it is very likely that any Prime Video users who give the show a try will also become fans. This new home could also be a further boon for the show’s upcoming reboot, as more eyes will not only likely tune into it, but a renewed streaming boost could see Peacock invest in more than one season.

On the one hand, Friday Night Lights winding up on Prime Video is something that fans should certainly celebrate. After months of not being available to stream, the show finding a new home is a glorious thing.
On the other hand, it seems like Prime Video isn’t the best streaming home for the show. Since fans are excited about the Friday Night Lights reboot, it would be great if it and the original show had the same streaming home. However, the original show is now on Prime Video and the reboot is being produced for Peacock, making for an eventual awkward split.
