Fortnite’s Biggest Musical Event Premieres September 27th

In 2021, the music of Daft Punk came to an end after members Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo decided to put away their helmets for good. The impact of the duo has continued to linger in the years since then, though, even as their work in spaces like the TRON movie series transitioned to Trent Reznor’s Nine Inch Nails.

And while fans of Daft Punk haven’t heard much from the Grammy-winning Frenchmen since their retirement, an upcoming effort is on the way that will showcase the band’s musical legacy in a whole new light. Not to mention, in a venue that seems quite appropriate given the futuristic-leaning bent that Daft Punk long favored at the heart of their creativity.

The Daft Punk Experience Joins Online Video Game Powerhouse Fortnite

Fortnite has developed into a well-known, signature-status video game title since launching in 2017. As Fortnite’s success has increased, so has its power to welcome and incorporate many significant pop-culture figures into its large-scale, sandbox battle royale survival universe. Daft Punk will soon join this illustrious list with The Daft Punk Experience.

This special event will be a fully interactive, immersive playground celebrating many aspects of the band’s history across several in-game rooms, utilizing 31 songs from throughout the entire Daft Punk discography. The attraction will be centered around a dance floor destination hub for players, and kicks off the gathering with a supercut of Daft Punk’s 2007 Alive tour and album.

The Daft Punk Experience is the biggest musical experience held so far in the history of Fortnite, and as a result will be filled with activities. That includes remixing and creating mashups of previously released Daft Punk music, and blasting robots with a soundwave laser in the Robot Rock Arena. You’ll even be able to make a LEGO® music video!

What Other Goodies Will Be Available, And When Does The Daft Punk Experience Release?

Additionally, players can hit up the Daft Club to get their dance moves on all night, and will even find furniture throughout the event designed by Daft Punk collaborators Hervet Manufacturier. The Fortnite Shop will also feature a Daft Punk Bundle that has a variety of accessories, instruments, and a “Get Lucky” (feat. Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers) jam track.

The Daft Punk Experience premieres September 27th at 2 PM ET, with doors opening in the pre-event lobby at 1:30 PM ET. Players can access it through Battle Royale through a monolith into a galactic portal, or by selecting the “Daft Punk Experience” tile directly from Discover. The Daft Punk Bundle goes live September 25th at 8 PM ET.
