Ezra Bridger’s Lightsaber Training Revealed In Ahsoka Season 2 Set Video
Eman Esfandi, who plays Ezra Bridger on Ahsoka, posted a set video on Instagram that revealed his character will be involved in lightsaber action next season. Ahsoka Tano first appeared in the animated shows The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.
The character finally made her live-action debut via The Mandalorian before receiving her own series, Ahsoka, in 2023. While Ashley Eckstein voiced her in the animated shows, Rosario Dawson took over the role for the live-action series.
Like Ahsoka, Ezra first appeared in animated form. After leading Star Wars: Rebels, the character joined Ahsoka on Disney+ during its first season. He’ll be returning for Ahsoka season 2, which is currently in production, once again played by Eman Esfandi after Taylor Gray originally voiced the character.
Esfandi posted a couple Instagram Stories to reveal how filming is going for Ahsoka season 2. In one of the videos, the actor could be seen sitting in a wooden structure while someone in the background threw a plastic water bottle for him to catch, which he did. Esfandi added a caption that said, “Practicing to catch lightsabers.”

The caption in the second Instagram Story said, “15yr old Jedi training,” alongside footage of Esfandi as a teenager wielding a pole as if it were a lightsaber.
He originally posted the video as a Reel, where he expanded upon what the video revealed. The actor said that he found this footage of himself as a 15-year-old using a clothing rack pole as a lightsaber at his parents’ store back in 2010.

Esfandi didn’t have a hugely prominent role as Ezra during Ahsoka season 1. The end of the season changed all that, though. Since Star Wars: Rebels showed Ezra and Thrawn being transported to a completely different galaxy, it was clear that his presence on Ahsoka meant he’d have to return to the main galaxy somehow.
After reuniting with Ahsoka amid his grand return, Ahsoka season 1 saw them and Sabine coming under fire from Thrawn. Ezra made it to the Chimaera and eventually joined back up with Hera.
Ezra’s return to the galaxy means that he will likely have a much larger presence during Ahsoka season 2. Esfandi’s set video showed him practicing how to catch a lightsbaber, which means Ezra will absolutely be involved in some major action scenes next season.
While the main plot of the season is under wraps, it’s clear that Ezra will play a key role going forward, especially as the show’s main characters try to put a stop to Thrawn.
Our Take On Ezra’s Larger Presence In Ahsoka Season 2

Ezra is a fan-favorite character in the Star Wars franchise. Seeing him join Ahsoka in live-action form came as an exciting addition to the spinoff series. With some of these characters being played by different actors than in the animated shows, it can take some getting used to among fans.
However, considering Esfandi’s fun throwback video showed him using a pole as a lightsaber, it must be quite a thrill for the actor to use an actual prop lightsaber on a Star Wars show.
It’s going to be a lot of fun to see Ezra in the middle of the action during Ahsoka season 2 and do everything he can to thwart the villain.
