Elizabeth Olsen’s MCU return as the Scarlet Witch is only three weeks away, with the actress back at Marvel on September 24. Instead of taking place in a live-action project, Olsen’s next Marvel appearance will happen in an animated series, the TV-MA Marvel Zombies. The project is a spinoff, expanding on an episode of What If…? season 1.

Olsen’s Scarlet Witch will not be like her main MCU self. Instead, the actress will voice the zombie Scarlet Witch. Olsen is far from the only Marvel star set to come back as their character in Marvel Zombies. Others include the likes of Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man’s head, Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, and more.

Olsen’s MCU return in the multiversal Marvel Zombies series connects to the Scarlet Witch’s last appearance in two ways. While the show is not expected to have any direct ties to the main MCU universe, both Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Marvel Zombies feature the Scarlet Witch as a major villain. Zombie Wanda Maximoff is no joke.

The fact that the Scarlet Witch died in the MCU and how Olsen now returns as a zombified version of the character is poetic in a way. In Agatha All Along, Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal, aka the MCU’s Death personified, claimed that the Scarlet Witch was gone, teasing that she really died. There are two projects in which Olsen could appear. The first is Avengers: Doomsday.

Doctor Doom and the Scarlet Witch have been tied in the comics, so Robert Downey Jr.’s character could be behind Wanda’s resurrection. The other project is the Vision series on Disney+. With Billy Maximoff in the MCU, White Vision might be trying to put his family back together. That could lead to a finale cameo from Olsen as the Scarlet Witch.
