Saturday Night Live is losing a veteran cast member in an unexpected move. There had long been rumors that SNL would do a bit of a reset after its milestone 50th installment. Over the past few weeks, the iconic sketch comedy series steadily confirmed those rumors and announced a number of changes to its ensemble.

After some changes, it was reported earlier in September that the departures were finalized, with veteran cast member Heidi Gardner exiting after eight seasons. Others ending their stints on SNL are Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker, and Emil Wakim. All others, including Ego Nwodim, were announced as returning.

Deadline reports that Nwodim is making the decision to leave after seven seasons on the NBC show. Read her statement below:

“The hardest part of a great party is knowing when to say goodnight. But after seven unforgettable seasons, I have decided to leave SNL. I am immensely grateful to Lorne for the opportunity, to my castmates, the writers, and the crew for their brilliance, support, and friendship. Week after week on that stage taught me more than I could have ever imagined, and I will carry those memories, and that laughter, with me always.”

More to come…
