Drake Adds Tupac’s Diamond Death Row Pendant to Memorabilia Collection

Drake isn’t only one of this generation‘s biggest hit-makers, he’s also an avid collector of memorabilia, already purchasing some of Pharrell Williams’ chains, including the famous 14-karat N.E.R.D. pendant that the Canadian rapper wore in his video for “Jumbotron S**t Poppin.”

He also bought a chain that Frank Ocean wore at the 2021 Met Gala for $1.9 million and spent a little over $1 million at an auction for one of Tupac Shakur’s rings.

Now, Drake has added another Shakur piece to his collection, a diamond-filled Death Row pendant, the same one that Shakur is wearing on the cover of his 1996 album, All Eyez on Me.

The What Did I Miss? writer posted a photo of the pendant on Instagram, and the back of it reads, “All Eyez on You 1996.” Drake was also seen holding the pendant while standing next to collector, Alexander Bitar, who posted the image to Instagram and wrote “Iconic” in the caption.

The Reaction To Drake’s Purchase

These days, it’s hard for Drake to do anything without people leaving negative comments or bringing up Kendrick Lamar, who squared off with him in one of hip-hop’s biggest battles. Some have even accused Drake of purchasing the memorabilia to prove something.

“Buying just to fit in the culture,” someone commented under Drake’s photo of the Death Row pendant. “Tupac wouldn’t have been a Drake fan,” another person opined, while one frustrated fan wrote, “Boy make some music and stop this mess.” Others, left comments about Lamar and their belief that he defeated Drake in their battle.

At the opposite end, however, Drake’s fans applauded him for the pendent purchase, with one person writing that Shakur and Drake are both legends, so it’s fitting for Drake to own something that belonged to another iconic rapper.

The Michael Jackson Album Purchase

It’s also being reported that Drake bought a rare copy of Michael Jackson’s Thriller album, signed by Jackson and Quincy Jones, the album’s producer. There’s a hand-drawn picture that the King of Pop created as well, which only increases its value. The album was reportedly owned by Nelson Hayes, Jackson’s assistant tour manager.

There’s a very good chance that Drake purchased the Thriller album because he needs just one more top Billboard entry to surpass Jackson’s record, something that could easily happen after releasing his next album, Iceman, which has yet to have a release date.

As of now, there’s no word about how much Drake paid for the Shakur pendant or Thriller album, but the social media discussions about the purchases continue.
