The Oscar-winning director behind the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot has given an exciting update on the show. The original TV series, which focused on a high school student who battles supernatural beings, aired between 1994 and 2003. The reboot series, which is set to feature Sarah Michelle Gellar in a mentor role, does not have a release date yet.

While having a built-in fan following will give the revival a significant advantage, the expectations will be so high that it could be very difficult to live up to them. Based on what is known about the new show, however, I have faith that the revival series will be great.

I have faith in the new show because I love the idea of bringing Sarah Michelle Gellar back and turning her character into a mentor, and Chloé Zhao’s comments about the revival make it seem like she will work hard to make it great. Most importantly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s story could repeatedly be revived for new generations.
