The Outlaws

The Outlaws features a hilarious ensemble cast that includes legendary actor Christopher Walken. Walken is joined by Emmy winner Jessica Gunning (Baby Reindeer), Emmy winner Stephen Marchant (Logan), Eleanor Tomlinson (The Nevers), Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones), and more.

The Outlaws was released in 2021 as a Prime original series and lasted three seasons before ending in 2024. Each of its 17 episodes lasts roughly an hour, which is unusual for a comedy series, but can reasonably be watched to completion over the course of a week.

The Outlaws is one of Prime Video’s most overlooked comedy series despite being loaded with creative talent. The series was co-created by Elgin James (Mayans M.C.) and Merchant, who co-created the original UK version of The Office with Ricky Gervais, as well as Extras and Hello Ladies.

The Outlaws earned an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score of 86%, including a perfect 100% score for its third and final season, and an audience score of 82%. Screen Rant’s review of The Outlaws season 3 noted, “The comedy, the story, and the dynamics in The Outlaws season 3 all shine through because of its perfect delivery, clever and tight storylines.” We also called it “the best season of the show to date,” ensuring that the series ended on a high note and is still worth the watch.

Elementary

Elementary is a reimagining of Sherlock Holmes set in New York City, starring Jonny Lee Miller (The Crown) as the signature protagonist. Elementary switches things up by making its Dr. Watson a woman, played by the iconic Lucy Liu (Kill Bill: Vol. 1).

Elementary was developed by Robert Doherty, who is also known for Star Trek: Voyager and Medium. A massively popular CBS network show, Elementary ran for seven seasons and 154 episodes between 2012 and 2019 and was nominated for 2 Emmys.

Elementary earned an outstanding Rotten Tomatoes score of 96%, including multiple perfectly rated seasons. Critics mostly enjoyed the great chemistry between this version of Sherlock and Watson. Audiences found the show smart, funny, and gripping, although a little less serious than the BBC’s definitive version of the character starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

If you’re a fan of classic whodunit crime series and are looking for something a bit nostalgic and timeless, then Elementary is a great show to dive deep into. It will definitely take you more than a week to get through all seven seasons, but once you get a taste, you’ll be hooked.

Person of Interest

Person of Interest is a fascinating and immersive action crime thriller series that originally aired on CBS. It premiered back in 2011 and lasted for 103 episodes across five seasons, concluding in 2016. Many consider it to be one of the very best network TV series of the 2010s.

Person of Interest was created by Jonathan Nolan, the brother of legendary filmmaker Christopher Nolan, and the co-creator of HBO’s celebrated sci-fi series Westworld. The series was also executive-produced by J.J. Abrams and features an ensemble cast led by Jim Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ), Taraji P. Henson (Hidden Figures), Kevin Chapman (Sneaky Pete), Michael Emerson (Lost), Amy Acker (Alias), and Sarah Shahi (Black Adam).

Person of Interest is a criminally overlooked series for how good it is. Despite earning a Rotten Tomatoes score of 92%, including several seasons with a perfect 100% score, the series was only ever nominated for one Emmy in a technical category. It also earned an impressive 8.5 rating on IMDb, putting it on the same level as Mr. Robot, The Queen’s Gambit, and Sons of Anarchy.

With artificial intelligence being the core theme and concept of Person of Interest, this series may be nearly 20 years old, but it feels more relevant than ever before in 2025. The show is worth watching for the elite combo of Abrams and Nolan alone, and viewers who stick it out for all five seasons will not be disappointed.

Schitt’s Creek

Schitt’s Creek took the TV world by storm during the late 2010s and emerged as one of the most hilarious comedy series of its era. The series won 9 Emmys, all for its sixth and final season in 2020, and earned a Rotten Tomatoes critic score of 93%, including a Certified Fresh 100% rating for season 6, along with an audience score of 93%.

Schitt’s Creek interestingly felt like it only started to get massively popular after its final season was released, as evidenced by the timing of its Emmy wins. The series was created by the father-son duo Dan and Eugene Levy, who also play father and son in the series.

In addition to the Levys, Schitt’s Creek stars Catherine O’Hara, who won an Emmy for her role as Moira Rose and is nominated for two Emmys at next week’s 2025 ceremony, and Annie Murphy (Black Mirror), who also won an Emmy for her role as Alexis.

The series consists of 80 episodes, all roughly 22 minutes each, which should make for reasonably fast binging. The Hollywood Reporter noted in its season 6 review, “The show has been noted widely for its particular mix of gooey warmth and sardonic wit, but the uncertainty of these times might make it an ideal rewatch option.”

If you’re looking for something that is a guaranteed romp of classic sitcom humor and rich satire, then it doesn’t get much better than Schitt’s Creek. It’s sort of like a slapstick, less corporate version of Succession if the Roy family had lost everything. The two series are alike, however, in their top-notch comedic genius.

House

House is often in the conversation as being one of the best medical dramas of all time. It was certainly a massive hit for Fox when it originally aired on the network from 2004 to 2012 and became one of actor Hugh Laurie’s most popular and iconic projects.

House offers a traditional tortured genius type of protagonist with Laurie’s Dr. Gregory House, who is a marvel of modern medicine but is drowning in his own despair and an antisocial painkiller addict. He specializes in rare diseases and works diligently with his team to find cures for the most complex conditions.

House, which was created by David Shore (The Good Doctor, Law & Order), won 5 Emmys and earned a Rotten Tomatoes score of 89%. While House is very much a TV series meant to entertain, it’s still considered fairly accurate in terms of medical information.

It’s certainly not, however, on the level of HBO’s The Pitt, but that doesn’t make it any less entertaining. It’s one of those shows that will hook you because of Laurie’s fantastic command and charm, blending medical drama tropes with sharp dark comedy. It could be your next big binge-watch on Prime Video this week.
