Apple TV+’s Sci-Fi Series Invasion Continues To Struggle In Season 3

Even after two whole seasons, Apple TV+‘s most divisive sci-fi series is not changing the one thing that is holding it down. Despite showing some significant improvements in its latest installment, the show in question struggles to find its narrative feet and keeps repeating the same mistakes that keep undermining its potential.

With a long line of critical and commercial hits, Apple TV+ is gradually starting to earn the reputation of having the best science fiction catalog. Some of the most incredible returning shows of the genre, like Silo, Dark Matter, Murderbot, and Severance, come under Apple TV+’s banner.

However, one returning science fiction series on Apple TV+ has consistently gotten polarizing reviews from viewers and critics. Even though it has managed to last for three seasons, it has a below-average Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score of 60%, highlighting how it has not fixed one big issue that has weighed it down since the beginning.

Like Its Predecessors, Invasion Season 3 Is Leaving Viewers With Way More Questions Than Answers

Although Invasion has managed to gain somewhat of a following after two seasons, many viewers have complained about how the show progresses at a snail’s pace. Its emphasis on its vast roster has always held it back from making any concrete revelations about the overarching alien threat in its story.

In its opening episodes, Invasion season 3 was seemingly fixing this issue by answering some underlying questions and even moving the flywheels of its narrative forward. However, despite the initial promise, it seems like Invasion has fallen back to its old ways, refusing to give its storyline any solid developments.

Even mysteries that were introduced in the Apple TV+ sci-fi show’s season 1 remain unanswered. For instance, Invasion, so far, has given nothing but ambiguous explanations for what “wajo” truly means, even though it was once highlighted as the main overarching mystery driving the central alien plot.

Surprisingly, the term “wajo” has barely been mentioned in the series’ recent story threads, making it hard not to wonder if the concept has been abandoned altogether. Many similar narrative inconsistencies and unresolved story threads have emerged throughout Invasion‘s runtime, raising many concerns about its future on Apple TV+.

Since Invasion season 3 is barely halfway through its run, it may be a little too soon to judge or draw conclusions about how it will unfold in the near future. However, Invasion‘s inability to give viewers a satisfying narrative payoff explains why it has not been able to rise above the divisive response it received when it first landed on Apple TV+.

The show still seems to have time to turn things around and leverage all the intriguing story beats and sci-fi concepts it has introduced so far. However, if it keeps delaying answers and piling on unanswered questions without advancing its core mysteries, it risks losing the audience that has been heavily invested in its story since the beginning.

Hopefully, Apple TV+ Invasion will soon start tying its threads together before audiences start losing interest, and it is too late for the show to redeem itself.
