American Horror Story Stars Evan Peters & Sarah Paulson Call Out Ryan Murphy Over Season 13 Delay
American Horror Story stars Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson called out creator Ryan Murphy at the Emmys, over the show’s season 13 delay. Both have played multiple roles across numerous seasons of the hit FX anthology horror series. American Horror Story debuted on October 5, 2011, and has so far spanned 12 seasons and over 130 episodes.
During American Horror Story‘s 12-season run, the show has explored multiple themes, time periods, and has evolved across its run. AHS is well-known for using the same actors across numerous seasons, with Paulson and Peters having last worked together in season 10, the pair reunited as presenters at the Emmys, and had a tongue-in-cheek swipe at Murphy.
Per the Emmy’s, the former co-stars enjoyed a playful exchange in which they noted they hadn’t worked together since American Horror Story: Double Feature in 2021, and Paulson then took a playful swipe at Murphy, and noted that he should “get started on season 13.” Check out the exchange below:
Peters: “We haven’t really worked together since American Horror Story Season 10. I miss you.”
Paulson: “I miss you! Although, if you really missed me, you would call your agent and Mr. Murphy over there and get them started on Season 13.”
What This Means For American Horror Story Season 13
American Horror Story season 12’s finale aired in April 2024, and there has since been no movement on developing another season. While the process of congregating an ensemble cast is certainly a challenge, Paulson’s comments may hint at the fact that Murphy has several projects currently in development right now.
For instance, American Crime Story, 9-1-1, and Grotesquerie are all in the process of having new seasons developed, and spinoff show 9-1-1: Nashville is set to premiere in early October. Murphy clearly has a lot to focus on right now, so he might have chosen to push AHS to one side for a while to explore new shows and ideas, which is understandable.
Our Take On American Horror Story Season 13
American Horror Story season 13 will definitely happen, given that FX renewed the show through season 13. It is just a case of when the season will enter development, and, given Murphy’s schedule, Paulson and Peters could be waiting a while to reunite. Crafting a season of AHS is a big undertaking, and Murphy will need to find the time to do it properly.
American Horror Story needs to evolve as a show, and coming up with ideas to keep the show fresh after 12 seasons is going to be a challenge. Murphy might feel that he needs a break from the series so he can come back to it with fresh ideas, and make American Horror Story season 13 one of the show’s strongest installments.
