Seven years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the Star Wars franchise is finally returning to the movie theater with The Mandalorian and Grogu, and its first trailer promises a thrilling adventure. The Mandalorian and Grogu will release on May 22, 2026 – by which time it will have been seven years since we last saw a Star Wars movie in theaters. Another upcoming Star Wars movie is in the works, Shawn Levy’s Starfighter, which recently began filming somewhere in the Mediterranean.

Lucasfilm seem to have struggled to orient themselves after the end of the sequel trilogy, but the wait is now over. The Mandalorian and Grogu doesn’t seem to be pulling any punches. From its big spectacles to its smaller character moments, this trailer already highlights the best of The Mandalorian series.
