Game of Thrones spinoff A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms reveals footage of Westeros’ new power duo ahead of its upcoming trailer release. The upcoming A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms series adapts George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, which take place between the events of House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones.
Much like their source material, the show follows Ser Duncan the Tall, a young hedge knight from a poor background, and Prince Aegon Targaryen, his squire. Together they embark upon numerous journeys as Dunk and Egg, the series pulling from the pages of the source material in their tales. The show begins in January 2026 on HBO.
Now, Rotten Tomatoes has released a first look at A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms ahead of its trailer, featuring Duncan and Aegon sitting on a hill together. Watching an encampment, the pair have a humorous exchange where Aegon thinks about staying “in a place like this,” to which Duncan replies, “You’re in a place like this.” See it below:
The clip ends with confirmation of a full trailer for the Game of Thrones spinoff tomorrow.
While the short look doesn’t reveal much, it does hint at the comedic nature of Dunk and Egg’s friendship. The knight and his squire are expected to have a journey that feels very different from other Game of Thrones TV shows. This is because of both the time period and a tone that will set it apart in the franchise.
It will also be the first of two Game of Thrones shows coming out next year: House of the Dragon season 3 is expected to arrive in summer 2026. As for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ story, it’ll also be tied to the Targaryens through Aegon and how his journey with Duncan unfolds.
More to come…
