Bryan Cranston stars as Michael Desiato in Your Honor, a two-season series that ran from 2020 to 2023 on Showtime. Michael is a hard-nosed and righteous New Orleans judge who is forced to break his moral code when his son, Adam (Hunter Doohan), accidentally kills the son of the biggest gangster in the city.
Fearing what will happen to Adam if Jimmy Baxter (Michael Stuhlbarg) ever finds out who was behind his son’s death, Michael resolves to lie and commit increasingly severe crimes to protect Adam. It’s a powerful performance from Cranston, who portrays the fear and desperation of the situation with intensity.
Why Your Honor Is A Perfect Breaking Bad Replacement (Despite Its Low Critical Score)
Some people may have been turned off by Your Honor because of its low Rotten Tomatoes score, which currently sits at 49%. There is no doubt some issues with the show, such as its unoriginality in the storyline as well as its relentlessly bleak atmosphere. However, it’s a satisfying companion to Breaking Bad.
Your Honor presents a funhouse version of Bryan Cranston’s performance of Walter White in Breaking Bad. Just like Walt, Michael also breaks bad, forgoing honesty and integrity for a criminal lifestyle. Unlike Walt, Michael doesn’t have much of a choice, and that small difference is enough to completely shift how Cranston plays the role.

The Showtime version of Your Honor inspired quite a few adaptations. In 2025, four foreign adaptations of Your Honor were announced, and that was after other deals to adapt the story had already been made. One of these foreign studio execs, Sharon Lev, said Your Honor was the “most widely adapted scripted format of the decade“.
So far, Your Honor is planned to be adapted for shows in France, Germany, Spain, Italy, South Korea, Turkey, Russia, India, Greece, Ukraine, Hong Kong, and Poland. However, those projects don’t seem to have release dates. Still, maybe these adaptations will be enough to spur Showtime into taking a crack at Your Honor season 3.
