Justin Bieber Drops Surprise Album Swag II: Listen Now

Justin Bieber pulled a Beyoncé by dropping his new album Swag II today, September 5, at midnight, shortly after announcing it on Instagram. The 23-track LP arrived less than a day after Bieber began posting photos of digital promotional displays in various cities.

Swag II comes on the heels of the singer’s R&B-styled Swag album, released in July, which went number one on Billboard’s Top Streaming, Pop and R&B Album charts. It also grabbed the top spots on Spotify and Apple Music Album charts.

Swag II Features

Bieber started communicating with his followers in real time shortly before the album dropped due to a slight delay, writing, “Me waiting with u, not baiting u … It’s not clocking to Spotify and Apple Music … I’m sorry for the wait their telling me any second.”

Features on Swag II include Tems on the song “I Think You’re Special,” Gunna on “Way It Is,” Lil B on “Dadz Love” and on “Sweet Spot,” a very booked and busy “Sexyy Red” offers a slowed down flow over a synth-driven ’80s-inspired track.

Meanwhile, on “Better Man,” Bieber promises to protect his mate, Hailey, while telling her that he’s done with all the bitterness he’s held onto, before doing a little boasting on the Hurricane Chris-assisted “Poppin’ My Sh-t.” Bieber closes the album out with the nearly 8-minute “Story of God,” where he shelves the singing and delves into spoken word territory.

Now, with two albums out in less than two months, this could be a sign that Bieber has found the needed rest to start releasing projects at a consistent clip again, as his last full-length LP was Justice, released in 2021.
